<![CDATA[Author Cora Maxine - Blog]]>Wed, 25 Nov 2015 11:53:48 -0500Weebly<![CDATA[Updates on Paranormally Gifted and SALES]]>Wed, 25 Nov 2015 15:44:52 GMThttp://www.coramaxine.com/blog/updates-on-paranormally-gifted-and-sales

It was my dream to have Paranormally Gifted released today. Sadly, that dream died when I contracted an extremely bad case of the stomach flu on October 29th, which recently led to a weekend in the hospital. I was released yesterday and while I would love to pull some magic strings and let the words flow, there's no way the book is publishing today.

I was to apologize for not being able to meet this goal. I still have hopes of publishing the book this year and Choosing (Make Me Paranormal Book 3) still has a release date goal of winter 2016.

Choices will be going on sale this week for $0.99 and Chosen will be free on Black Friday! If you haven't grabbed your copies, now's the time to do so. Also, each sale will help me take care of the massive hospital bills I'm facing. My insurance, unfortunately, doesn't go into effect until January 1 so I'll be looking at probably close to $10k or more in hospital bills. I'm hoping to qualify for financial assistance, but we'll just have to wait and see how that goes.

If you'd like to help out the cause, a Go Fund Me page has been setup by a good friend. I have donated to many causes through the site and can attest to them being secure. The page can be found here: https://www.gofundme.com/yrbp37ng For those of you that don't know. Cora Maxine is my pen name. My real name is Amy Brantley and I also write cookbooks. If you'd like another way to donate, donations can also be sent through PayPal, using the button below or using the address agirlandherebooks@outlook.com.

Thank you all for your continued support.

<![CDATA[Chosen in FREE This Weekend!]]>Sat, 31 Oct 2015 15:15:53 GMThttp://www.coramaxine.com/blog/chosen-in-free-this-weekendPicture
Happy Halloween, everyone! As a special treat, Chosen is FREE today and tomorrow.

Here's the first chapter for your reading enjoyment:

Chapter 1

To say that all Hell broke loose and to actually see it happen are two different things. You'll have to trust me on this.

I'll be the first to say that I was a bit surprised when an opening to Hell appeared at my feet and no one seemed the least bit concerned. I mean, the term “all Hell broke loose” sounds quite drastic, and you'd think there'd be quite a bit of action involved. But, no. In fact, I think I saw some of the guests at my going away party actually yawn. Mrs. White just looked annoyed, and Vince rolled his eyes before strolling to the other side of the room to grab a couple more crackers off the buffet.
I, for one and maybe the only one was stunned. After the opening had appeared, four men dressed in black suits with black shirts and red ties that matched the color of their dark-red skin ascended the staircase that had magically appeared, and took guard over the four corners of the opening. I immediately recognized a couple of the men. One had been to my cottage and the other had visited me at lunch to warn me about this very night.
I should have been frightened, but they looked like mafia hit men with really, really bad sunburns. I would have laughed at the absurdity of it all, probably because I was starting to have a mental breakdown from the stress of the past few months, but the last man that appeared completely derailed my thoughts.
He stood at least six-foot-five and wore relaxed dark blue jeans that hung low on his hips. A tight black t-shirt was stretched across his chest and I would have guessed his weight to be bordering on 300 pounds, and not an inch of that weight was body fat.
Like the others from his group, his skin was a dark shade of red, but unlike the others, he had a special feature that immediately captured my attention horns. The man had honest to God horns! And they were sexy as Hell. I immediately began to fantasize about running my hands over his long, red horns. He reminded me a lot of Hellboy he was big, red, and I supposed that's what Hellboy's horns would have looked like if he hadn't broken them off.
I couldn't help but stare, and when he spoke my name, I damn near fainted.
His voice was the deepest I'd ever heard, but it also felt like silk tickling my ear. He drew close and took my hand in his, bowing and bringing my fingers to his lips. His kiss was gentle and warm. Looking up into my eyes, while still bowing, he gave me a devilish smirk before standing upright and giving a small smile to Mrs. White.
“Jupiter Raven Hayes. Wow. I never thought I'd see the day.” He just stood there staring at me, and I'll admit it made me a bit uncomfortable. He was close enough that I could feel the heat radiating from his body – a body that had recently stepped from the flames of Hell.
“Hayden.” Mrs. White snapped at the man before me. “I've told you that you and your kind are not welcome here. Miss Hayes has already gone through orientation and will be leaving soon. In fact,”she waved her hand around the room“this was her going away party until you and your band of misfits showed up to ruin it.” She seemed truly exasperated as she stared at the man, refusing to back down from him.
“Now, now, Lily. Do we really need to go through this?” The man crossed his arms over his chest and shifted both of his shoulders to make himself more comfortable. “I mean, really. We both know the truth here, and it's time Jupiter did, too.”
I hate when people talk about me as if I'm not there.
“Uh, excuse me, but I'm standing right here.”
Mrs. White chose to ignore me and continued to quarrel with the man. “No means no, Hayden. Jupiter had witch and werewolf blood, but she's also been given the chance to choose from other societies that may better suit her personality.”
“So that's it then? You haven't told her what she really is?” Hayden turned to look at me. “I'm sorry, Jupiter. It's rude for us to continue this conversation as though you're not here.” He gave Mrs. White a look that said he was disgusted with her behavior. “The truth is no one here is being honest with you, and I feel you need to know the truth.”
“And what truth is that?” I asked, crossing my own arms in front of me.
“Hayden, don't you dare!” Mrs. White was getting more and more agitated, and I could have sworn I saw a few sparks fly from her fingertips.
He gave one last smirk to Mrs. White before he turned and gave me his full attention and a gorgeous smile. “Well, to start with, you're a demon Princess.”
That was it. I really did faint after that bombshell was dropped.

The next book in the Make Me Paranormal series is a Christmas short and I'm super excited about it! The book will be a stand alone read that features a character by the name of Holly Day, a 30 year-old woman who, as you guessed it, was born on Christmas Day. Holly is surprised by a special gift that transports her to the paranormal facility in the Great Smoky Mountains where she is asked to join the Christmas society.

If you love Christmas, like I do, you're going to love this book. If you love the Make Me Paranormal series, you're also going to love getting to see a whole new side of things.

Expected release date is November 26, 2015.

<![CDATA[Now Available for Preorder!]]>Fri, 24 Jul 2015 22:01:02 GMThttp://www.coramaxine.com/blog/now-available-for-preorder
It's here! You can now preorder Chosen: Make Me Paranormal Book 2 and it will be delivered to your Kindle on September 28th! Here's the description of the book: Note that the number of pages listed is NOT the final count. Once the final draft is uploaded the page count will be much higher.

To say that all Hell broke loose and to actually see it happen are two different things. You'll have to trust me on this.

Jupiter Hayes thought she had seen and heard it all when she woke up in a paranormal facility and was told she had to choose a society to join. But no one said anything about royalty.

When the demons show up, things begin to change as Jupiter finds out she's the one being chosen. How will she ever be able to make the right choice when there's so much riding on her decision?

<![CDATA[Choices Is Here!]]>Sat, 07 Jun 2014 00:14:15 GMThttp://www.coramaxine.com/blog/choices-is-herePicture
I always wondered which paranormal being I would choose to be, but never thought I'd be forced to make the decision.

As an urban fantasy author, Jupiter Hayes knows all about the things that go bump in the night, but she never dreamed that those beings could be real.

Summoned to a secret paranormal facility within the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, Jupiter finds out that not only are these beings real, but she's destined to become one of them.

Soon she's cut off from the life she once knew as she spends time getting to know each society in need of new members. But, some of those societies may be a better fit than others, due to her own bloodline.

Throw in a sexy vampire and a gorgeous warlock and it's easy to see that Jupiter Hayes has some tough choices to make.

Available for only $2.99

Barnes and Noble

<![CDATA[The End Is In Sight]]>Fri, 30 May 2014 14:56:38 GMThttp://www.coramaxine.com/blog/the-end-is-in-sightPicture
I've got only six more chapters to polish up and Choices: Make Me Paranormal Book 1 will be ready to publish. It's been a long road, but I'm so happy to have something to show for it. I'm also happy to announce that work on book two, Chosen, has already begun.

Choices is an urban fantasy novel about Jupiter Hayes who has spent her working life writing urban fantasy novels. She knows about the things that go bump in the night because she works them into each and every one of her stories. What she doesn't know is that those paranormal beings are real and she's about to become one of them. Join in on her adventure as she encounters the beings of legend and tries to decide which society to join.

<![CDATA[Let the Editing Begin!]]>Fri, 03 Jan 2014 01:33:50 GMThttp://www.coramaxine.com/blog/let-the-editing-beginPicture
After several months of writing a bit here and there, my first full-length novel is now in the editing stage. It seems odd to finally be finished with it, but at the same time it feels amazing and I'm ready to start work on book two.

I think the book will be well-received by those who enjoy urban fantasy and the paranormal. Loaded with werewolves, vampires, witches, fairies, and even elves, the book promises to be something like you've never read before.

<![CDATA[Update]]>Fri, 23 Aug 2013 14:57:29 GMThttp://www.coramaxine.com/blog/updatePicture
I'd like to say that my urban fantasy is complete and ready for editing, but alas it's not. I'm 25,000 words into my first full-length novel and have hit a dry spell. Well, not so much a dry spell as needing to work on other things. You know, the type of things that make money. LOL It's not that I doubt my fiction at all, but I can't afford to do it full-time or even part-time at the moment.

I do hope to finish the novel by Christmas, which means that the first book in the Paranormal Homicides series will be pushed off until 2014. I know a lot of you have been excited about reading more of the series and I promise it will happen.

Until next time, my friends, happy reading!
